Oakland Enterprise Zone

Oakland Enterprise ZoneThe Oakland Enterprise Zone program has been in existence since 1993. The Oakland Enterprise Zone program has been improved and expanded in recent years. In addition to Downtown the Oakland Enterprise Zones now cover the Port, Airport and several other industrial and commercial parts of the city.

The Oakland Enterprise Zone program's aim is to encourage hiring and grow businesses within the city of Oakland as well as attract potential new businesses both from within and outside of California.
The Oakland Enterprise Zone has seen great usage since it's inception date of September 28th, 1993. Presently, the Oakland Enterprise Zone ranks as one of California's major metropolitan Enterprise Zones. The Oakland Enterprise Zone currently consists of over 27 sq. miles. It is estimated that the Oakland Enterprise Zone covers more than 10,000 businesses. While downtown Oakland is included in the Oakland Enterprise Zone, several other "upscale" areas of the city can also be found within the borders of the Oakland Enterprise Zone.

The Oakland Enterprise Zone is designed to reward businesses that operate within the Zone boundaries with many lucrative tax incentives and savings. With out a doubt the most advantageous of these benefits is a hiring credit worth up to $37,440 per qualified employee. Employees can qualify for this hiring credit in any 1 of 13 different ways regardless of where they live. Again, an employee does NOT have to live in the city of Oakland or the Oakland Enterprise Zone in order to qualify for the hiring tax credit. Past and Terminated employees may also qualify for the hiring credit. Oakland Enterprise Zone Consultants can help employers recognize potentially eligible employees.

Complementing the hiring tax credit is a Sales and Use Tax Credit. Companies located within the Oakland Enterprise Zone precincts may also claim a Sales and Use tax credit on equipment, technology and manufacturing investments. Both the sales & use credit and hiring credit can be used to recover any income tax paid in the last 4 years plus interest. Oakland Enterprise Zone tax credits can be carried forward and applied to potential future state income tax owed, both on an individual shareholder(s) basis and corporate basis. Oakland Enterprise Zone Consultants (aka CLC Tax Credits) specialize in providing Oakland businesses Tax Preparers with an all-inclusive credit and tax recovery solution.

A widespread misunderstanding about the Oakland Enterprise Zone program is that only certain types of manufacturing companies are entitled to participate in the program when in fact, all businesses located in the Oakland Enterprise Zones are welcome to make use of the benefits available.

The Oakland Enterprise Zone's tax credit program requires skill and considerable comprehensive tax planning in order to properly take advantage of the available tax benefits.
